We are seeking a Community Coordinator to support environmental restoration plans in Northern Mindanao. This senior-level role offers the chance to contribute to environmental projects, engage with communities, and handle administrative tasks, including processing documents with government agencies.
While the work is primarily remote, the candidate should be based in Bukidnon and available for occasional in-person visits to communities or government offices as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong community development skills, administrative expertise, and a passion for environmental conservation. This position reports to the Legal and Regulatory Compliance Lead and Chief Operations Officer.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support by preparing and processing documents with relevant government agencies, including DENR, NCIP, LGUs, and other regulatory bodies, to facilitate project compliance.
- Build and maintain community relationships to ensure effective communication and address any concerns related to restoration activities.
- Conduct in-person field visits to community sites and government offices as needed for meetings, document submission, and project-related activities.
- Facilitate Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) processes with project partners
- Collect socioeconomic and community data, indigenous knowledge, and other relevant information.
- Organize community activities, including consultations and benefit-sharing discussions.
- Help develop Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development Plans (ADSDPP) and other community documents.
- Coordinate project activities by collaborating with team members, community leaders, and stakeholders to support the planning and execution of restoration efforts.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in community development, human ecology, communications, social sciences, or related fields
- With 5+ years of experience in community development work, community-based programs, and other related fields
- Based in Bukidnon or Cagayan de Oro
- Proficiency in NCIP and DENR procedures (e.g., FPIC, CRMF, etc)
- Familiarity with Mindanao’s culture, agricultural practices, and forest management
- Strong indigenous communities and local stakeholders engagement and communication skills
- Proficiency in both the local language of Binukid, Bisaya, Tagalog, and English
- Willingness to travel across Mindanao
- Competent at using Google Suite software
- Familiarity with nature-based solutions, carbon markets and carbon project development is a plus
